It's a beautiful Nature Friday here in New Mexico! A pawfect time to show you some of the special feathered friends who have visited our backyard lately!
These house finches may not be too special, but Mama and I love seeing them chattering at the "water cooler" in the morning
This Juvenile Cooper's Hawk has been stopping by almost every afternoon for an afternoon dip in the "pool"!
This little guy is a Curved Bill Thrasher, he looks like he could be in a Muppet Movie, don't you think??
He roams the backyard in the morning looking for breakfast bugs.
The next two visitors were our prettiest yet!
This pretty Western Kingbird likes to sit on top of the Texas Yucca flowers and scope things out...
He's only stopped by a couple of times, but Mama and I love seeing his pretty yellow tummy!
Here we have a Black Crowned Night Heron who showed up one evening. Daddy saw him walking by the waterfall and by the time Mama stopped freaking out and got her camera, he was in the tree in the backyard.
Mama saw these pretty herons at the Arcata Marsh while we were in California but, once again, we were amazed to learn they live down here too!!
We hope you enjoyed seeing some of the cool birdies passing through our yard and hope you can get out and enjoy some nature this weekend!!
Your humans do great pictures of birds. (I love birds and spend hours watching them move.) My human is useless at bird pictures.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful range of birdies you spotted this week. All quite unfamiliar to us in Scotland. We like the name of Curved Bill Thrasher!
ReplyDeleteHappy Nature Friday.

ReplyDeleteWell I never... having never before seen or heard of the American House Finch, within two blogs I get photos and names of that very bird!!! The first in Kentucky and now this in NM. What fun. Even more fun, was that you get ALL of these (and more I presume) coming to visit your yard. You are so very lucky, Rosy and gang... hugs and wags, YAM-auntyxxx
Your birdies are so lovely, Rosy. We love the yellow tummy on the kingbird!
ReplyDeleteWe like the bright colored birds, they are really pretty.
ReplyDeleteIf you keep showing us all your birds, you might just get a visit from the Birder, Hootin Annie.. you have so many different ones and wow on the heron. Had no idea they would be in NM.
ReplyDeleteNiece Rosy, 187% Stunning the Black Crowned night heron. GORGEOUS!! OMCs maybe he missed the LLB family and followed you to NM. I love house finches too...
ReplyDeleteHugs Aunty C
We love seeing all your birdies! Our pawrents go crazy for new birds in our yard, too. You are so lucky to have your little water cooler where they like to come for a drink or a bath.
ReplyDeleteLove all the beautiful birds that visited you and love seeing you too, Rosy. You're adorable.
ReplyDeleteHave a woof woof day and weekend. Scritches all around and my best to your peeps. ♥
Holy cow, you have quite the selection of very cool birds! We love those little house wrens but can never get any images-they're just too fast. The Thrasher looks somewhat cranky. Maybe he didn't want to wait at the water cooler along with everyone else. ;) Enjoy a great weekend, guys!
ReplyDeleteOh what wonderful 'critter' visitors you have come to your yard ~ Sweet doggie photos ~ Xo

Oh, we love that beautiful kingbird and he looks so good on those pretty yucca flowers. Your Mama did a great job capturing those photos.
ReplyDeleteWoos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber
WOW sweet Rosy, no wonder you love your new place, such fun visitors coming to see you! Word spreads quickly that there's some beautiful pups living there now!
ReplyDeleteThat king bird sure is pretty, but that heron is the most unusual. We have grey herons on the lake near here, and our strange older brother thinks they're pterodactyls. XOX Xena, Lucy and Chia
ReplyDeleteCharlee: "Birds."
ReplyDeleteChaplin: "Birds."
Charlee: "Birdy birdy birds."
Chaplin: "C'mere birdy birdy birdy birdy birds."
Charlee: "But not the hawk. The hawk can stay over there."
Wow! You sure have some amazing birdies where you live!
