Flowers on Nature Friday(ABQ-BG Part 2)

Rosy here on this beautiful Nature Friday for Part 2 of Mama's trip to the Albuquerque Botanical Garden!

This week we're going to meander around the Mediterranean Conservatory and see some pretty flowers.

The bromeliad have us wishing for some tropical weather instead of the cool winds and snow flurries in the forecast this week.

The reds are so very dreamy....

...and the white bromeliad seem to glow in the sunlight

Hmmmm Mama, I don't think Cyclamen grows in just the Mediterranean but I do love the red flowers. Plus, look at the design on the leaves, very cool!

This is Aeschynanthus Radicans, also known as the Lipstick Plant. The maroon flowers do kinda look like one of Mama's lipstick tubes.

These flowers are warming me up already! Let's see what else Mama found.

Here we have a bloom from the Fan Aloe plan.
Of course, Mama loves the orange!

A pretty pink Forest Lily

You can count on Mama to almost always find an Orchid, they are her "lighthouse" of flowers!

Last, but certainly not least, Mama's(and mine too) favorite flower she saw on this particular day, the Peppermint Geranium. It was so delicate and small, yet check out the beautiful shades of pink and the bright orange of its stamen!

Thanks so much for joining us for this flowery edition of Nature Friday, we hope it helped warm those in chillier climates!

We hope you all get out and see some colorful nature this weekend!

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

Summer Botanical Beauty

A couple of weeks ago, Mama took a drive over to the Albuquerque Botanical Gardens.
She hadn't seen it during the Summer months and wanted to get some pictures....Unfortunately, I had to stay home. Then again, it was pretty warm that day. Needless to say, I was happy to stay home in the air conditioning!

Everything was nice and green!

The pond was dotted with water lilies!

The Brown Eyed Susan's were blooming

The sunflowers were standing tall too!

Another reason Mama wanted to go see the Gardens in the Summer was the Butterfly House is open!

She thinks it must be the end of the season though,  because there weren't a lot of Buttie Pillars flying around.

Here is a Swallowtail(Mama thinks it's a black and blue)

This is a  Julia Heliconian Butterfly. Mama was amazed by its beautiful orange color!

Finally, here is a Fritillary Butterfly. Its wings almost look like stained glass, don't they?

Thanks for joining us for a Summer peek at the
ABQ Botanical Garden!

Here's to a weekend filled with Nature fun!

Local Nature Friday

 Happy Nature Friday!
Last week, Mama went for a walk without me to a local Nature Park.

The Rio Grande Nature Center State Park is located by the Rio Grande River...and did I mention I was NOT invited....For some reason perfect little dogs, like me, aren't allowed in this park.

 Mama saw turtles...

 Some dried tree fungus...

 Some ducks...

 This is Mama's most favorite
duck, a Wood Duck, and one she had never seen in the wild before!

She saw some other pretty birdies
(without ME) too!

 Little finches....

A Canadian Goose in flight

 ....and even a Sandhill Crane
 falling out of the sky
coming in for a landing!

This sure looks like a pretty park and it sure looked safe for pretty little dogs like....

What's that Mama?
You made a movie showing why it may not be as safe as I think?

You can also watch it HERE, on YouTube

OMD!! You saw TWO coyotes???
I sure am glad I decided to stay home!

We hope you all have weekends filled with safe Nature Walks
