Tourist Trap Travel Tuesday - The Cabazon Dinosaurs

 

 

 ROAR!!! Hi efurrybody, Arty here today to show you one of the fun side trips we took on our vacation. 

These are the famous Cabazon Dinosaurs!! Being a huge Dinosaur fan, I was excited to see them up close!

 

 

If you have ever watched the moves, PeeWee's Great Adventure or The Wizard, you may have noticed them.

 

 

 Here's Dinny,  she was built in 1964. Mama actually lived in California then but doesn't remember ever seeing Dinny(she was an itty bitty puppy). This does. however,  prove she really IS older than a dinosaur!

This is Mr. Rex, and he was built in 1981. Both dinosaurs were built by a Knott's Berry Farm sculpter, Claude K. Bell to help attract customers to his restaurant, The Wheel Inn.  Right now, they are dressed up in their Flintstone's Halloween outfits. Mr. Rex is Fred Flinstone and Dinny is dressed up as Dino!

 Look Mama, I am as big as Mr. Rex and could chew up that lady in two bites!!!

 

 

 

 What do mean, that wouldn't be appropriate? Sheesh Mama, I was just pretending!!

Phhhttthhhwaaaapppp!!

 

 

 

 

 There is a "Dinosaur Walk" behind the big dinosaurs, with even more dinosaur sculptures!

 

 

 

Rosy and I even posed with Mr. Rex!

 

 

 Believe it or not, he was a pretty friendly guy!

 

 Dinny and Mr. Rex. along with the Dinosaur Walk, are located in I-10, about 300 miles east of Los Angeles, near Palm Springs. They were an hour away from Twentynine Palms RV Resort, where we were staying in CeCe.  

 

If you are ever in the area and need a rest stop, this is a fun place to stretch your paws!

Nature Friday at the Orange Grove RV Park

 

Rosy here today with my assistant Arty to show you some of the nature we saw during our stay at the Orange Grove RV Park!

 

 

The Orange Grove RV Park is located on the Southeast side of Bakersfield, California and, as the name says, it is located in the midst of an orange grove! How about that for Nature Friday material?!

 

 We stayed there twice, once on the way down to Joshua Tree  NP, and again on the way home. The first night we spent there, it was pretty empty and Mama got this nice shot of the orange grove!

 

 

 

The oranges are close to being ripe, but still a month or so away from harvest time. Mama was a little sad because visitors are allowed to pick and keep the oranges during harvest season. She sure does love her some fresh squeezed orange juice!

 

 

 

 Sorry Mama, maybe next time!

 

 

 

Mama cheered up after taking a stroll around the large RV Park. They put a lot of effort into their park design and landscaping.

 

 

They had little areas that seemed to be made for photo shoots! Plus, they had a large selection of her favorite flowers....

 

 

 That's right, there were Lantana bushes in full bloom and  everywhere!!

 

 

 

Old farm equipment made wonderful additions to the landscaping.

 

 

 Mama and her camera always seemed to be drawn to the

different colored Lantana tho....

 

 

 

 This mix of little orange and red blooms 

are even a bit Autumnal, don't you think??

 

 

 

We had a great time exploring Orange Grove RV Park, didn't we Arty??

 

There was so much to see, we'll return to show you more of Orange Grove RV Park on a Travel Tuesday later this month!

Thankful for Great Nannies!

 

Sunny here today to give a big Thank You to our Au Puppy-paires H and S!!

They always take such good care of us while Mama and Daddy are away and this last time was no exception! 

 

Extra treats, non stop playtime and lots of snuggles and belly rubs are always a part of their routine!

 

 So thanks H and S for always making sure Jakey and I continue to be spoiled rotten, to the level we have become accustom!!

Happy Travel Tuesday - A Fun First Day

 

Arty here today with the first installment of our big CeCe Adventure!

This was our longest adventure in CeCe so far(a total of nine days). We spent three days traveling to our destination,  three days in Twentynine Palms, California(very close to Joshua Tree National Park), and then three days getting back home!

 

Rosy and I were chosen for this trip because we are the best doggy travelers(along with the bonus that we get along well in tight quarters). We were on our best behavior again on this trip and the pawrents were very proud of us(as well they should be)!

 

The first day of the trip was our longest travel day and we spent most of the drive time napping. Rosy isn't a big fan of wearing a harness, so I made sure to let her know I was there for her by butt snuggling with her.

 

 

We always stop to eat lunch along our travel route. Unfortunately, Mama did NOT share her lunch with me and I had to settle for a cookie instead. After lunch, we got back on the road and just a few hours later we arrived at our first stop, the Flag City RV Resort in Lodi, California!

 

 

We all split the chores when we set up CeCe for the evening.  Daddy gets the outside stuff like hooking up the electric and water. Mama gets the inside ready by putting the rugs down, making the bed and getting the kitchen set up.

 

 

Rosy and I help by staying out of the way and eating our dinner!

 Sounds fair, right??

 

After dinner, we usually take Mama and Daddy for a walk to get some exercise. Along the way, Nosy Rosy likes to see what our neighbors are doing.

 

 

You should have seen the look in her eyes when Mama showed her these cute kitty kampers! Let's just say she was VERY excited!    

 

 

 

Since Mama was nice enough to point out the kitty kampers, we decided we would let her pose us on the park sign so she could get a golden hour picture. 

(Can you see Daddy spotting us behind the sign? BOL)

 

 

After our walkie, it was time to relax! Rosy snuggled with Daddy while the pawrents watched a movie.

 

 

 I, on the other hand, made time for a little pre-bedtime sucky toy time!

 

 

Needless to say all slept really well together in the big bed that night!

(Mama asked me to mention that one of the main the reasons we picked CeCe is she has a King Size bed big enough for pawrents and puppies)

 

 

When we woke up the next morning, Mama and Daddy packed CeCe up,

we all ate breakfast and started all over again!

 

 

We'll be back on Friday with a look at our next destination and the Nature we found

there!!
