No Tricks Just Treats for Shelters

Welcome to day one of No Tricks, Just Treats for Shelters!!

Over the next few days we are going to give you ideas on how to help your local shelter! I was adopted by Mama and Daddy after spending time in a shelter....

I also spent time in a shelter. A rescue organization rescued me, and then Mama and Daddy found me. We think rescue organizations are also very important! We will be donating 50 cents (1/2 a green paper) for each comment for the next three days to a pool that will be split between two rescue projects right here in Blogville:
The first is LBR (Legacy Boxer Rescue) this is where Casey and Jessie were adopted by their Mama!
We also want to help cats in need. In Blogville,  we have a good Samaritan in who helps cats (and even a couple of donkeys) that need a place to stay. The second half of the pool will go to
to help her buy food and take care of her anipals!

Make sure to spread the word! The more comments we get, the more green papers we can donate!!

Make sure you also link up to our Blop Hop with a Halloween post about how you have/are or are going to help a shelter animal! We are donating $1 (1 green paper) for every Link up to Williamson County Animal Shelter where both Arty and Jakey spent time!

The Hop will be going on through Sunday so make sure to tell your friends!!

The first way we are helping shelters is by going through and donating our old towels and blankies!
It seems we always find lots of old blankies and towels to
donate to our local shelter.

This year Mama asked us for some help getting them all folded.

I didn't mind, and got started. Mama thought is would be nice to document how well we could fold. That is when Arty alerted me...

 OMD...N-O COOKIES???
What the what???

Then Mama explained how this was one of those times where we were helping others, and we are suppose to donate our time, and things we don't use anymore, to those who can use them.

Once we understood...we finished folding the blankets without complaining much.

As long as we would get cookies
EVENTUALLY

 OH OH OH...Speaking of cookies!!!
We are having a Giveaway!!
See that cookie jar up there?? The one that says "No Tricks, Just Treats"?? We are giving it away!! Filled (or 2 bags) with either Dog treats OR Kitty Cat Treats!

For every comment you leave over the next three days, you will get one chance to win and if you join our Blog Hop, you will get FIVE extra chances. We will pick the winner and announce it at the Blogville Halloween Pawty on Monday!!

We'll see you tomorrow with Day Two of No Tricks, Just Treats for Shelters!!!

  3. what a wonderful post!!! and your photos are masterpieces!!! it's impawtant to help our furfriends in need, I so agree. my grampy still brings food to the shelter in their area, they are the backup-shelter from where the pets go to the different shelters or back to their owners... they are a little between the chairs and often the people furget this short-time-shelter when they donate... but fortunately my grampy is there and he always donates the tip he gets for guiding city tours :O)

  4. We will be joining the hop on Sunday! Everybody at our house is from shelters (except the humans). My assistant also volunteers at several shelters, helps with events and adoptions, and she also uses our blog to encourage adoption and rescue especially for animals who are often viewed as special needs. We LOVE shelter animals and we LOVE that you are raising money for shelters! Hurray!!!!

  8. This sure is a big weekend for you. We love your message, especially since Millie was first surrendered to our local shelter. We always support the rescue group that we came from. They often pull dogs from the shelters to give them a better chance of finding good homes.

  9. Well we always do the Dog Walk before the Flying Pig Marathon which donates a 50 lb bag of dog food to the shelter. We for the kitties do Ten The No-Kill Cat Nation and send cats on the Scooter Mobile to get them spayed and neutered. I give of my own DNA and blood for I am in a research program for curing the C. So that is just three things I am involved in. I have had them all on my blog.

  11. OOPs gadget not working.. don’t waste your money on the political agenda of HSUS which is that sad ad on TV, they keep the millons and give it to lobbist, so be sure to donate to your LOCAL pet shelters! or to a pet shelter you know gets the money, like Jessie and Casey or Dory's shelter. be sure you know where your money goes.. I found this out from the Big Cat Rescue we went to last week. this is true, I did a lot of research on line. it is there to be found. Give of time and effort to those YOU KNOW need it.

  16. Pawsome idea treats fur shelters. Mommy donated a bag of dog treats to the local library that was collecting for a shelter. (She accidentally ordered big treats instead of little ones at Chewy. ) We had a picture of the treats at the Library, but mommy deleted it. Nice going Mommy! Mommy is so fired!

  24. Mom keeps a box in the laundry room for old towels, blankets, collars that we've outgrown and bags of treats. She also puts in laundry detergent and bleach because shelters do a lot of laundry. Then she and Dad deliver it to C.A.R.E. and feed treats to all the dogs and cats waiting for their families to come adopt them.

  27. You are so very kind to spread the word about helping the animals in shelters! My sweet boxer boys are Legacy Boxer Rescue Alumni. One thing the volunteers do in December is to make up a gift basket for area shelters. I usually start with a laundry basket, add a bottle or two of bleach, a couple large sized blue Dawn, some blankies, some toys and some chew bones for the poor dogs that have to stay at the shelter, add a couple big bags of dog food, and top things off with some fruit and cookies for the wonderful shelter workers.
