No Tricks just Treats for Shelters

Welcome to day two of No Tricks, Just Treats for Shelters!!
Click HERE to read all about day one, and how you can help us raise money by commenting and linking to our Blog Hop!

Today,  Jakey is going to tell you a bit about donating toys and other things you might not use to the shelter!
Hi everyone, do you have any toys you don't play with or maybe gifts that you just never used??

I know in our house, we get a couple of mail surprise boxes in the mail each month. Sometimes there are toys or treats in them we just don't use.

We also have a Mama who, ummmm, shops for us a bit more than she should and sometimes we aren't interested in the dishes, games or toys she buys. We also have outgrown some of our collars and have gotten some new strings for Mama and Daddy, so we are donating the "gently used" ones to the shelter.

We put them all in a box so Mama can take them to the local shelter!

Luckily for me, I'll have someone to "play with" while Mama takes all this to the shelter on Halloween!

 Don't forget about our Giveaway!
See that cookie jar up there?? The one that says "No Tricks, Just Treats"?? We are giving it away!! Filled (or 2 bags) with either Dog treats OR Kitty Cat Treats!

For every comment you leave over the next three days, you will get one chance to win and if you join our Blog Hop, you will get FIVE extra chances. We will pick the winner and announce it at the Blogville Halloween Pawty on Monday!!

Join us tomorrow for the final day of No Tricks, just Treats for Shelters!!

  1. Great reminder Dory. Even in this house, with Gail who is totally NOT into shopping, we do have some surplus stuff that a shelter would surely appreciate.

  3. This is totally a great idea!! We like to give extra things to our local shelter...whatever we happen to have on hand...treats that the girls don't really like, or toys that they do not play with...sometimes we get them as gifts...and we pass them off to the shelter dogs. I won a raised dog bed and brought it over to the shelter and asked them to specifically give it to this elderly dog that has been at the shelter for 12 YEARS. I thought she deserved a special bed! Honestly, I find it hard to go to our shelter. I want to take them ALL home!!

  5. What a nice thing to do Jakey.

We discovered our local shelter needed used towels so when Mommy gets new bath towels she donates the used ones to the shelter.

  7. I must say the treat today is looking at all of you all dressed and ready to treat not trick.. we don't have any extra things, because I don't buy anything but dog food and milk bones, with a bag of tiny treats for being good. I don't buy toys either. Jake has 6 toys and when one is destroyed I replace it. he loves his old rubber shoe better than any toy... and his old rope his brother made him with knots in it.. 4 chew bones and 2 monkeys are what he has.. I am going to check with the spca because it is close to us and see if they have needs.

  10. Great ideas!!! All our toys are pretty occupied right now by some little Miss, but we bet we can find some more treats and some old towels or blankets to share too. You are doing such a great thing with this Halloween event.
