This week I, Mini Dory, will be starting a three part Travel Tuesday Adventure about my recent stint as tour guide in San Francisco and a few surrounding areas!
It all started when Mama told me her human BFF and her family were coming in ALL the way from the other side of the USA part of Blogville!
Ms M and her family came to California all the way from the east coast of Pennsylvania. When I found out Mama and Daddy were going to be meeting up in the San Francisco for part of the trip I, being the gracious Mini Pup that I am, volunteered to have Mama photoshop me and carry me around be their tour guide! Boy did we have a few days of crazy fun!!
We started the trip by taking a tour bus around the city to make sure we saw all the pretty sights!!
We saw tons of very cool architecture while we were touring the city! Did you know San Francisco was home to 215 historical landmark buildings, 10 historical districts and around 14,000 Victorian homes??
It is so awesome to see the historical buildings mixed in with the modern skyscrapers!!

The Transamerica Pyramid(that pointy building above) is the tallest skyscraper in San Francisco FOR NOW, the new Salesforce Tower will surpass it as soon as it is finished!
Next time Mama and Daddy take me to San Francisco to visit, I want to explore more of Chinatown! Did you know that the Fortune Cookie was invented in San Francisco?!
Did you know the Golden Gate Bridge is almost 9,000 feet long(8,981) and it sits 746 feet above the water?? It is also one of the most photographed bridges in the world(especially by Mama!).
Mama always sings the Rice-A-Roni song when she sees these...silly Mama
The Summer of Love happened in 1967 and was when lots and lots of young free spirits headed to the Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco!
Doesn't she know I have to listen to all that psychedelic rock and roll she listens to?? Sounds like the 60s were a very interesting era!!
Mama introduced me to a friend she bought when we got back to the hotel!
His name was Mr. Bready Turtle. She said he would keep me company while the peeps went out to dinner....

Looks amazing, my peeps have often thought about visiting San Fransisco and these photos are making them want to visit even more. Me...well I would luffs to meet Mr Turtle bread, hehe!

he he he,i would have eaten the body of the turtle first. I love bread. I would love to see all those buildings and homes. I love old buildings and these are gorgeous to me. and I want to ride the trolley car to. you were a great tour guide and just visiting SF would be wonderful but meeting friends to do it with is even better

What a fun tour! I'm not much of a city person, but it looks like a nice place to visit (but I wouldn't want to live there....ha ha).

ReplyDeleteWhat a great tour! My John and Cathy and Ryan humans went to SF a year or two ago and saw some of the same sights. They did mention a place where you could get bread baked into all kinds of shapes. I hope you visited the aquarium there too.

Mom used to be in San Fran a lot and said she really liked it there. Now it is a long drive, so we haven't been. Maybe one day?

I visited San Francisco once in the mid-90'. It was a very interesting place, and I didn't get to see all the things you showed us here. I would love to make another trip back and spend more time.
