Flower Friday - California Poppies

Welcome to Flower Friday Everybody!!
Excuse me for a minute...

No Mama, I am NOT looking at the camera this week because you did NOT bring treats..AGAIN! According to Aunty Madi's demerit system, you should get 87 demerits!

Sorry about that...now where were we???
This week we are going to take a look at the state flower for California, the California Poppy!

Did you know the California, or Golden, poppy became the state flower in 1903?

Did you also know it is perfectly acceptable to give your Mama a razzberry when she does NOT bring treats on a photo shoot!

Here in California,  every April 6th is
California Poppy Day!

California Poppies are 2-3 inch cups can be orange, bronze, scarlett, terra cotta, rose or white.

 I'm singing the
"No cookie, no lookie" song to Mama!
She sure is persistent!

California poppies grow in open areas, grassy or sandy slopes.

The California poppy also grows in areas north to southern Washington State and east to Texas!

MAMA...using photoshot is cheating!
I hope your weekend brings photoshoots with
LOTS of treats!

That was a wonderful exploration of the CP, Rosy... even if you had to do it at sweatshop rates. Pawhaps you can cut mum some slack as the treats must not be unpacked from the moving-house boxes yet. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  3. They are very pretty. Love how the old Beetle in the background on two of the photos matches the green and orange in the flowers.

  5. Those poppies are so pretty. You did a good job of camera avoidance since there were no treats.

  6. I never knew there were anything but red poppies, like the ones that put everyone to sleep in the Wizard of Oz.
Rosie, I love seeing you sing. You and Xena would have fun singing together.

  7. Dear Niece Rosy SassyPants you are a quick learner yes indeeding 87 demerits should be issued to those non compliant with the rules of Niece of Aunty Madi.
The LAZY OGM did not have an posies this week...I'm considering at least 43.5 demerits for The LAZY OGM.

OMCS OMDS Poppy Orange might me our new red...this itty bitty kitties loves them.
    Hugs AUnty Madi

  9. Such pretty poppies, but really, I am thinking, should Blogville organise a boycott until the treat situation is resolved?

  11. Did Mama forget which box she packed the treats in, Rosy??? She will need to make it up to you with at least 87 treats.

  13. Gurl ~ you have to keep training your Mama! They NEVER learn, do they??! I am glads you have kept the motto going strong....I, in my 'advanced' years, sometimes forgets and look at the flashy beast without a treatie. I KNOWS! I am embarrassed abouts it.
Anyhu, yes! our Poppies are most beautifuls! They grow everywhere here ~ if you gets just a couple, the next year they will be all over your yardie! Ma loves them, butts they have left our yard. Maybe she will steal some stray ones she sees on our walkies..hehehee
