Today I, Rosy, am here with my friend Timmy the Turtle to wish you a very happy Tongue Out Turtle Tuesday and update you on a couple of things happenin' here around Our Backyard!
First, thanks to everyone for their concern for us during the wildfires raging in California. We are so very blessed and live on the"Lost Coast" where it is rare for wildfires to reach. We are sending POTP to those 150 miles west of us who are suffering from the devestating Carr Fire. This is only one of many fires burning in our region and we pray the weather cools off so the dedicated firemen can contain these fires soon!
Next, my big brother Arty could use a bit
of POTP. He has been having a VERY bad allergy season this year and, on
top of that, it seems he has contracted some kind of upper respiratory
infection. He has a bigtime snuffy nose..and his eyes are watering lots
too. He went to the V-E-T yesterday and they stole some of his nose
bubbles to see exactly what is going on. The also gave Mama some
antibiotics to give him, and he is taking Zyrtec for the snuffles. All
of us(Arty included)were vaccinated for two different flu strains...but
Arty is pretty popular, even with flu germs I guess...
Needless to say, nobody around here
has gotten much sleep, so we may not be around as much as usual this week.
Finally, I wanted to tell you about my cool new friend Winnie!
It all happened when I had to go potty in the wee hours of Saturday morning(I knew I shouldn't have had that last drink of water). Mama put her robe on and we went downstairs. Mama opened the door and I went out to do my business. Then I smelled "her" over in the next yard eating some delicious garbage, it was Winnie the Bear! Of course I barked my hello...Mama isn't big on me barking at 3:30am for some reason, so she came over to get me...well MAMA scared Winnie and she took off. Then Winnie scared Mama and Mama freaked out and wanted me to go inside, pronto! Can you believe it?! Well...I avoided Mamas moves, and followed Winnie along the fence line until she scampered over the neighbors back fence! Mama was kinda in shock(because the LAST thing she expected was to see a bear) so I decided maybe going in was a good idea... Then I went in and back to sleep, Mama not so much...
Mama spent the rest of the morning looking out the window and saying a few HBO words about the neighbors not cleaning up and storing their garbage in proper garbage cans with lids! In retrospect, Mama is more frightened of what could happen to the bear if someone reports him, than she was about me(although she is already threatening a recall refresher). Mama did not report the bear, but she did talk to the neighbors about cleaning up their garbage to avoid any further confrontations. Mama has also put midnight potty runs on hold for now...
We hope you are having a Happy, Smiley
Tongue Out Turtle Tuesday!

ReplyDeleteOh, an interesting new neighbourhood then?!! Glad to hear you are safe from the fires, but it is also possible that the flames are driving bears closer to you? I know they are attracted to urban areas for what might seem like easy'hunting', but it is a worry - for the bear as much as for the hyoomans and their pets. Stay safe efurrybuddy. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
Those wildfires have made the news over here as well and do look VERY scary
ReplyDeletePOTP in bucket loads to Arty, hope those allergies can get sorted out
A BEAR, wow, I have only ever seen them on the TeeVees and you've had one visit in the furs!
Loves and licky kisses

We've seen coyotes and fox in our neighborhood but no bears! As for poor Arty, hope he feels better soon. We've had flu shots and still gotten the flu. Our vet says it is like the human flu shots and not good for all strains. We no longer bother with that.
ReplyDeleteWow! We have had nighttime "meet and greets" with skunks and possums, but never a bear!
ReplyDeleteOMW OMW OMW!!! A BEAR in your yard next door. I freaked out reading this and was not even there with you... you must come when mama calls. remember that. I am so sorry Arty is sick, prayers for quick healing from the antibiotics. we know all about not much sleep when one of us, human or canine is sick.. love all of you
ReplyDeleteI go at at the three o'clock hour for peepee's too, Rosy, and we have never seen a bear! OMD!
ReplyDeleteWe are sending lots of AireZen and POTP for Arty!
Oh wowza, Winnie sounds like a FUN new furiend! I'd love to meet her. Momma says "not in a million years."
ReplyDeleteWe have our paws crossed that Arty gets better soon. A bear next door is a pretty scary thing. We're glad he didn't decide to venture into your yard.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you aren't too near that fire. We backpacked right where it is many years ago, in wonderful old growth forest. I'm so sad about that fire.
ReplyDeleteAs for the bear, I am so glad that your mama talked to those peeps about cleaning up their garbage. The bears are being deeply affected by our droughts and fires... and we peeps need to do everything we can to avoid getting them killed by authorities. Your mama is a smart and brave woman (talking to the neighbors about something like that sometimes requires bravery - imo!).
We are sending POTP to Arty. Our pups get very bad allergies too. I really hope that he feels better.
Dear Sweet Arty we are so very sorry about your allergies...dog gone it.Do you think it is something in your new home or yard or has this been going on before your move? We for sure 300% are sending hugs and kisses and purrs your way. Lets hope and purr your nose bubbles render some good information. Please keep us posted.
ReplyDeleteRosy SassyPants the greeter of all creatures great and small. Mom got a wee chuckle. She said that Rosy has gumption x 87. Toto the might mini from years ago was full of gumption too. He did not recognize that anything was bigger than he was and thought everyone wanted to be friends. MOLMOL
Hugs to your peeps and all 3 of you Madi and Mom
We are so happy you are far away from the fires, we always worry when things go on in places our friends live in. Now Rosy you have the cutest little tongue, we laugh each time we see it. We sure hope your brother starts to feel better real soon, it sounds like him and our mom have the same crap! Maybe she should go to the vet so they can figure it out. mags and gus
ReplyDeleteA bear?!?! Wow, that is crazy! You're very brave, Rosy!
ReplyDeleteWe will add Arty to our prayers - and the people in the path of the wildfires.
Great job with Tongue Out Tues!
Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher
Yipes...who'd have thought you'd have a bear visitor. Way to keep the family safe, Rosy.
ReplyDeleteOh no, poor Arty. We hope he will be feeling better. Even though you are safe from the fires, could there be smoke in the air that he is super sensitive to? We are glad you are far enough away from the fires. We have been thinking about you a lot.
ReplyDeleteSweet little Rosy- you may be black and furry, but you are no match for a bear!!! Do be careful out there. We hope those neighbors do a better job about cleaning up their trash.
Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber
We are sending lots of prayers for Arty. I agree with your mom. When you see a bear it is best to run
ReplyDeleteArty my sweetheart, I am sending you all the POTP I can muster and lots of smoochies and love too

Aren't the fires kerazy this year??! So far, we have been lucky too, paws crossed it stays that way. I am so glads you guys are on the coast, and pretty safe! OMD, A BEAR??! WOWSA! I would have liked to bark at him too Rosy! Butts, I thinks Ma would have had the same reaction as your Moms! And I have terribles recall, so Ma would have needed to have a bag full of freeze dried chickens to gets me in BOL!!
ReplyDeleteArty, dude, sorry abouts your allergies! I hopes the dogtor can figure out how to helps you control them. I gots my paws crossed real tight for you, and I hopes Winnie stays home from now on....☺
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
So much going on, Rosy. First, I am glad Winnie was a scare-dy bear and not an attack-y bear. You are one brave - yes, we will just say brave - little girl. I can see our Xena doing the same thing!
ReplyDeleteWill definitely send up prayers for Artie. I was supposed to get Xena vaccinated last fall (per her breeder) but after researching on line and consulting with our vet, I came to understand the risks weren't worth it. It seems that flu shot gives more pups the flu than those who contracted it without the vaccine. Yikes! More big pharmaceutical company hype.
Hoping for better sleep for everyone in your household, and less before bed water! <3
Gosh that bear sounds so scary. Glad you got back in the house. We sure send lots of purrs and prayers to Arty and hope he feels better really soon. All of you take care.
ReplyDeleteMany years ago, when we had our first dog, we let her out in the middle of the night - we had no fenced in yard! - and then saw that there was a bear on our deck! I completely freaked out, and ran to the door. Luckily Shelby was smart enough to come running right back into the house!
ReplyDeleteWe are so glad you are safe from the fires, but sorry that Arty is not feeling well. We are sending many warm and healing wishes to him. ♥
