Smoky Skies on Nature Friday

Thanks for stopping by this week for Nature Friday!
This week I, Rosy, and here to show you a different side of nature. Here in our part of Blogville sometimes nature can be "not so nice". The wildfires in the area are a good example of this.  Most of the wildfires in our area were caused by natural causes and, like Arty mentioned a couple of weeks ago, they bring a bunch of smoke. Last week brought a good example, so I asked Mama to take som pictures so we could share what it looks like.

Mama says it's like the smoke is acting like an orange-y pink filter on the world!

The mornings, when the sun was trying to burn through the smoke and fog, were pretty spooky

In the bottom right hand corner of this shot, you can see some blue sky just our of reach!

Needless to say, the air quality was yucky...and we didn't get any long walks all week!

We could smell the smoke in the air too.....

We are sending lots of POTP to all those effected by the wildfires including all the animals whose natural homes have been destroyed.

We are so sorry for any inconvenience we caused by having the link up late...

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

  2. Gail, who has had two planned cycling trips in the NW USA substantially disrupted by wildfires, is always telling me how horrid it is to have to breathe that nasty smoky air. We send loads of POTP to all the people and animals (and trees) affected, in ways great or small, by the fires.

  4. A couple weeks ago when the fires were at their worst, we had hazy days where the sun and blue skies couldn't quite break through, but it was up high and didn't change our air quality. It is so very sad to see everything burning. A real tragedy.

  6. Even in the skies with the fires there is beauty, but we would rather see the kind of beauty that won't kill you. We weren't able to join the blog hop...not even following the link at the end of your post. Can you help?

  7. Sometimes that smoke travels all the way to us in WNY. By then it's so high up that we can't smell it. But it turns the sky white and hazy. We hope those fires will stop soon, and hope you and your family stay safe.

  13. The photos are amazing even if the smoke and fires are so awful. We have some family in southern California and they have the same problem with the smoke smell. We have actually had some pretty hazy skies here too due to all that smoke. At night sometimes we can even smell it. We send lots of POTP and prayers for all those affected by the devastating fires.

  17. We know just what you're going through, Rosy and send our best thoughts and prayers out your way where it's so much worse than it is here even though there are still 3 fires burning. Stay safe and know we're thinking of you all.
