Sunny Pupdate
@8/6/22

 We have now entered the rebellious part of Sunny's recovery. This is the part where she is down to  needing about 1/2 the pain meds she was originally taking. This is a double edge sword. On the one hand, I'm glad she doesn't need all those drugs in her body but, on the other hand, she is getting very restless in her crate and wants to be much more active than she is allowed to be at this stage of her recovery.

The good news is, after only 17 days, we can only see a few scabs, and, yet undissolved, stitches!
Sunny's incisions healed wonderfully and there is no swelling at all!

This means, no more "cone of shame", hurray!

Sunny still doesn't like to put all her weight on her back legs and, believe it or not, she does a good job walking on her front paws for a few steps before getting her back legs down. She does favor one leg or the other, depending on the day, but we were warned that may happen.

Tomorrow we head to the vet for Sunny's first
follow up visit, hopefully we'll be able to increase the walking a little bit to wear this puppy out!

I'll fill you in next week!

  6. Niece Sunny you are healing very nicely THANKS to your caregivers 200% care.
    Slow and easy sweetie healing from inside out is boring but necessary.
    Good luck at your check up and OMDs look at that long leg.
    Hugs Aunty C

  11. Keep up the good healing, Sunny. It is hard to stay down when you don't feel like being a patient. It was super hard for Mom last year after her heart attack too, and she is a human who understands it all better than we pups do. So glad you are doing well so far.
