This and That on Nature Friday

Today, we're celebrating the first Friday in August with a little bit of the Nature I've seen so far this Summer.

This little guy is a Rufous Hummingbird. He's little, even for a hummer!  Mama says he's just passing through, hopefully he'll make himself at home here for a few weeks.

Look at how he changes color when the sun shines on him(or when he wants to show off for the girl birdies)! The orange on his neck almost glows!

Look over there....

We still have rosies blooming...both the red blooms

....and the pink blooms like the hot summers here in New Mexico

We have had a couple of other frequent visitors who are enjoying the New Mexico Summer

This is Fatty Fat Fat Frog. He visits our waterfall at night. I have to say, after my first taste of froggy, I have decided frogs are friends not food. Fatty and I have made a deal. Now, he mostly hides under rocks, and I mostly watch him.

Sunny introduced you to our roadrunner friend earlier this week. I have tried to chase him down to see if we can hunt lizards together. He keeps ignoring me though and eats every lizard he finds....
Sheesh...doesn't he know it's nice to share?!

 Nom......lizards!!
Anyway, that wraps up all the this's and that's around our backyard this week.

We hope you all get out and enjoy some nature this weekend!!

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see the link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

  6. Your roses are quite pretty. Stay away from lizards, they are creepy! Hope Sunny is recovering well and not in too much pain.

  7. you did a super job of this and that and or yourself being such a good model. Jake used to eat lizards, the others just chased them. Beau ignores them. You are having a most wonderful New mexico summer and we are trying not to be a little jealous of your fantastic back yard

  9. That is such a cute hummingbird, Rosy. We only have one kind on the east coast, but we love seeing them every time they visit the yard. Right now we have 2 males and one female that we think is feeding young so we should have a couple more to watch soon.

  11. Thank little hummingbird is adorably precious! And who wouldn't love to run alongside a roadrunner! I'm guessing your fat frog tastes a bit bitter. Blech, we think we'll pass on froggies. Here's hoping you have a furbulous weekend!

  15. Rufous hummingbirds: we get the very, very occasional one here, but we are out of range. That is sad. Loved those photos. And I have been following a road runner nest cam on Twitter: https://twitter.com/CrytzerFry/status/1555555651450851328
Mom gives those tiny babies entire snakes and lizards! Except for the tiniest one that got a moth. And the sounds from the nest. And mom eats the shells. It's fantastic.
And you are as adorable as ever! <3
