Howdy effuryone! Welcome to Nature Friday, where we can meet some new
friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like in our corners of Blogville. Here in New Mexico, most of January sure has been cold!
We have had to work real hard to keep the fountain from freezing up.
The ice looked so pretty and Mama made sure to take pictures of it before breaking it up so it would melt in the sun.
The
birdies depend on the fountain water to drink and to take their baths,
so we want to make sure it is always full and flowing.
We have decided the Winter color in New Mexico
(and probably around the world) is brown.
Leftover leaves on the tree....brown
Flowery buds dried in the sun and cold....brown
There are a couple of other colors in our backyard though,
Crab Apples on the tree are reddish...brown
and a left over apple we found on the tree is yellowish....brown
This week the sun has been out and things are a bit warmer!
Mama says we shouldn't get used to it though, because it is suppose to get rainy and cooler next week...
Come on Spring!!
Well done Mama for taking care of the birdies in the freezing weather. And yes, things are looking fairly brown here too.
ReplyDeleteToodle-oo!
Nobby.
we live in da sister state... our winter color is brown or gray... and now green... crazy isn't it?
ReplyDeleteOur neigborhood is mostly brown too except for the peeps that fertilize their lawns. We've had so much rain that they are the lucky ones to keep that pretty green grass! You found great stuffs for Nature Friday!
ReplyDeleteIt's a very ugly winter here and we are still very sad because it is warm and pretty much snow free. Brown isn't much fun but we have a lot of it. We can't imagine keeping a fountain running in the cold, but your mom is doing a good job.

ReplyDeleteI love how you found the colour amongst the drab... A good metaphor for life! Hugs and wags YAM-aunty xxx
your yard is all the colors of fall. you make a bright spot in the browns and your paws are just too cute for words. such a good mama to be the ice breaker for the birds water fall.
ReplyDeleteNiece Rosy 1st I love your hair bow and bandana!! They are both quite spring and let's hope Mother Nature takes the H I N T.
ReplyDeleteOMDs our mutural friends Lana and Ernie have a saying we have adopted when it comes to enduring cold temps,"it is a NO shovel day'!!!
I love the fountain
Hugs Aunty C
There is a lot of brown around here too, Rosy. You sure brighten up our day with your pink shades and rainbow bow on your head.
ReplyDeleteJava Bean: "Ice! We see a tiny bit of that here some years, but not this year. This year it is rain, rain, and more rain!"
ReplyDeleteSome nice sunshine would be appreciated here in WNY. Everything here is gray and brown and soggy. But, as our ghostwriter always says, "if it's not snow and ice I'll take it!" It was good to see you pups in your colorful attire in your bright sunshine, even if it's a bit cold.
ReplyDeleteWe're ready for Spring too sweet Rosy! That was nice of your Mom to keep the water flowing for those that need it out there.
ReplyDeleteI was just getting used to the old Mexico winter. It is pretty there. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Rosy. At least it's not supposed to get colder and snow next week! Oh, and your eyes (like mine) are BROWN! XOX Xena
ReplyDeleteWe are impressed with your winter. Lee and Sunny both share the desire for the cold to go away and Phod likes it! Lady thinks there may be some huskey in him. Lee and Phod who are deep into winter!
