Super Bowl and the Botanical Gardens

Howdy effuryone! Welcome to Nature Friday, where we can meet some new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like in your corner of Blogville.

Here in the USA it is a big weekend for football. The "Big Game" is on this weekend, and we are a house divided. As you might know, Sunny is a big fan of the San Francisco 49ers.  This year, because the New York Giants never had a chance, I am routing for Taylor Swift's boyfriend Travis and his Kansas City Chiefs!

Mama kinda wishes it was 2 different teams playing...because she has routed for both of these teams this year.

But enough about football.
For the nature part of this week's post, Mama visited the Botanical Gardens last week to see how it was getting along this chilly winter of 2024.

The Wood Ducks are hunkering down and braving the chilly winds.

The seed pods patiently wait for a strong wind to carry them to
some place to root.

Mama found some pretty red berries for Aunty C.

 GO NINERS!!!
Sorry....I got carried away.
I meant to say, believe it or not,  Mama actually found some flowers blooming outside at the Gardens!

Mama isn't sure, but thinks this may be a Christmas Rose.

and these Snow Drops are just pushing up through the soil.

Most of the gardens are the brown color of Winter,  but still looking pretty darn pretty!

Next week, we'll be back with some nature Mama found in the Atrium
at the Botanical Gardens!

We hope you all get to see some nature this weekend and...

GO CHIEFS!!!!

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

  1. What totally gorgeous winter nature photographs today. Well done Mama. Gail tells me that we too are rooting for the Chiefs. Nothing to do with Taylor Swift, but because once in 1989 some of her colleagues in Bartlesvilke, OK, took her on a trip up to Kansas City to watch one of their games!
    Toodle-oo!

  4. We only have mud in our yard, no beauty or flowers here. It is a real mess and a big problem. As for the Super Bowl, we have no interest and are fine if both teams lose. Not fans of either one and we don't normally watch the game. If one of our teams ever makes it, which won't happen, we might watch. You all enjoy the battle and make sure you have plenty of snacks for the game!

  5. Sorry to read about your Uncle Cowboy. We hope Grampa has company. No sure about Super Bowl - here we have something called 6 nations rugby which has just kicked off. As for nature - loving your seed pods and the hellebores.

Like Tigger's Mum, I'm getting immersed in our Six Nations Rugby season (we have five weeks of edging the seat and barking the screen!!!)... but I wish you the best for your fun event! And thanks for the pretty images of late winter/early spring. Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx

  7. I love the brown lacy things and those snowdrops. have never seen snowdrops except in photos. both of you have your game faces on and one of you is going to LOSE. have you made plans for that? Beau says he cares not one whit for football, neither does mama, but she is ready to see Usher and the half time, which Daddy says he is not watching. that's ok, the game will be on dvr.
I can be bought to root for either side, so what will you give me, open for offers

  8. Good my my adorable nieces. Aunty loves x 87 the red berries. Please thank Mom.
I wish your divided football fans a good game. Here we only watch Collegiate Sports.
But I do understand the rivalry.
The wood duck is gorgeous. Such vibrant colors
    Hugs Aunty C

  9. You two are so cute in your football gear. How cool that your mom got such a great picture of the wood duck.

  10. Java Bean: "Ayyy, that wood duck looks like it was painted by Picasso or something! So fancy!"
Lulu: "We don't pay any attention to football here but Mama and Dada think it's nuts that people are so mad at Taylor Swift for no good reason, so I guess we're rooting for her boyfriend's team by default ..."

  14. Sunny, you've got "that look." Those 9ers better win, right? XOXOXO Chia
Hey Rosy, Mom's rooting against the 49ers cause her "X" is a big fan of theirs, BOL. So I'm with you in hoping the Chiefs win! Your friend, Xena
