Tuesdays with Bilbo - Bilbotude

So lately there has been rumors that I have been awake all night and maybe disturbing Mama and Daddy's precious beauty sleep.

It has all been for VERY good reasons!

Bilbo: WOOOWWOOOWOOWOO
(Mama jumped 3 feet off her bed...the amusement factor alone is so worth you all doing this at least once)
Mama: Bilbo what is it? Are you lost?
Bilbo: Lost, LOST?? I am sooo not lost...do you see that I do not have my lost toy in my mouth. I want to go outside!!
Mama: Are you thirsty (checking the full water dish)?? Do you have to go outside???
Bilbo: YES!! Let's go outside!!
Mama: Then GO...your door is open!!
Bilbo: But MAMA...I want YOU to go with me.
Mama: Puts on robe, grumbling a few HBO words better not said here.

So I take Mama downstairs so I can go outside and look around. Of course, I did not have to go potty...I would have just gone in the house if that was the case...I just wanted some outside time! I finish my outside time and decide I want some Mama time...Mama has other plans and goes back to bed..How dare she!!!

20 minutes later just as Mama drifts off...

Bilbo: WOOWOOWOOWOOWOO
Mama only jumps 1 foot off the bed this time
Mama: This is getting old Boney....
Bilbo: I want you to GET UP can't you see it is 3:30 in the morning...Time to rise and shine!!
Mama: GO TO SLEEP BILBO....grumblegrumble
Bilbo: WOOWOOWOOWOO
Mama: sighs, puts on her robe to go down stairs where she will fall asleep on the couch with at least one, possibly two dogs trying to hog couch space....

Bilbo: This is how it is SUPPOSE to go Mama.....You should have just stayed up the first time!!

(from Mama: It seems like once a month, Bilbo gets a bug up his behind and wakes us all up in the middle of the night like this. I'm going to start writing the dates down, but I am hoping it is just during the full moon...He calms down if I go downstairs and sleep on the couch...
Anyone else have this issue ??)

  1. Hi Bilbo!

Firstly, we LOVE your cushion - real neat! Um - FH wants a quick word now....

FH - Hi Bilbo's mama! Goodness, it was SO good to read this! We have the same little issue with Max. It's sort of infrequent but nevertheless regular enough to be irritating. We never thought about marking the dates down and we're going to do that now. Especially since his last escapade was on Sunday night. We simply grumbled as 3 hours sleep is not what you want before a week at work! So we looked at a 'phases of the moon' calendar and nearly fell off our chairs to see that 27th June (Sunday night) was a full moon - wow! We'll be interested to see the feedback from others on this too!

Right FH - can WE have this comment back now?! Thanks! Bilbo - Max thinks you are obviously in tune with your inner wolf, just like him. JD - rather like FH - just likes his sleep so is content to ignore his inner wolf, he he he!

  3. Morning Bilbo,
Doogie used to do that but he never woowoowoo-ed he used to nudge Mom until she woke up and all he wanted was to go check the back yard was where he left it and that no one naughty had taken it. I think it is a guy thing though to be honest.
I have to say you do look yummy today

  4. Oh ha ha ha! I do the exact same thing. Of course I am careful to always make sure I do some business to convince her that there was a reason to go out but then I just kind of wander off into the yard to sniff. Hehehe.

Of course the humans can get most grouchy when their sleeps are disturbed, so be careful.

  5. Bilbo,

What a great pillow...luvs it! I thinks it is your inner wolf coming out with the full moon OR maybe you is training your mom to sleep on the couch.

  7. Piper has a sharp bark that Mom absolutely hates - and he only uses it in the middle of the night - one quick "brk" is all it takes to get her heart racing - and we never know why he does it. We don't know if it coordinates with the full moon or not.

I think your mom would appreciate some nice Private time with YOU. I see no problem with your plan to provide it for her.

  10. Woos Bilbo! He, he, he, I make Mum sleep out on the couch about once a week.....you have to work on that one Bilbo! Dad gets mad though, and throws the pillow over his head, somehow he does not enjoy my singing at 2 am.....I see from the comments that woo and I are definitely not alone.

  11. Oh Bilbo please tell us you are not affected by the moon!! If you are maybe you should be starring in the
    Twilight series.

  12. Of course we laughed as your post was very funny.
We do know it is not so funny at the time.
Martha occasionally decides she wants out at night........again all the more strange cos she is happy to pee the carpet. (Have now lost count of how many rugs we have gone through)
She then sniffs about - looks at you and wags her tail.
I do sometimes have an overwhelming desire to strangle her but fortunately so far I have managed to resist.
It is always on Sun, Mon or Tuesday night - when I have to work the next day.
Honestly she never does it at the end of the week.........!
Loved the cushion - aren't we soooo lucky having such cute doggies!

  13. Aahhh Bilbo you just wanted to howl at the moon, right?

  14. Could be the full moon or could be he is just getting in the habit of wanting to be up? Any chance he has a UTI?

We have seen the suggestion before that you put him on a leash and once he has gone potty, back inside, so he learns that the only reason he goes out at that hour is for a potty break. Could take a few nights to break the pattern.

  15. Bilbo, our mom would be upset if we woke her up for attention in the middle of the night.
We get to sleep in the big bed, so we are close all nite.

  16. Yeah, I'm not one to talk because I do that too. It does seem more likely to happen during a full moon, now that you mention it...

  18. I haven't had that problem with Lucy but I have with our oldest cat Lily. She would wake me up in the middle of the night and wouldn't settle down until I gave her some milk. She did this for about a month and then suddenly stopped.
Maybe it is the full moon. Love Bilbo's cushion :)

  21. Tucker does the same thing -- he stands outside the open door at night and barks until somebody gets up and tells him to come inside!

  22. You're kidding, right? Lilac does this AT LEAST once a week, probably more often than that. She drives Mom and Dad crazy!

  26. Nope, I sleep all the time! (at night I mean) Auntie Penny likes to get up and wander around though.

  27. I see this house is in need of potty training tips as well. BOL Hey, mama, you realize that the one time you'll call the bluff is the one time that Bilbo will actually have the runs, right? Ask our mom, she's an expert at this game. She always loses!

  28. Miss M used to sneak off at the same time to go sleep on the couch, but then try and get back before we would wake up. I think they just have an innate sense of time and desire to do things when we can't catch them.

  29. Oh Bilbo, where did you get that pillow??? I just love it!

  31. Hi, Bilbo!
    I never do that.
But I guess it has something to do with the full moon.
Let us know how it goes, ok?

  34. Jack and I had this same discussion. I've decided just to sleep so soundly, he can't wake me up no matter what! :)

  36. Great cushion, Bilbo!
My mom thinks you're smart to keep a little journal - then you can discuss things with Bilbo's vet next time you take him in. Did you do this before Jacob joined the family? Maybe you're just trying to get a little extra Bilbo time in!

  37. The Roscoe who used to sleep until I was up and rumbling around the kitchen is now up as soon as there is a hint of daylight, 4:30! Since he has been sick I have been giving him breakfast with his meds, and now even though he is done with morning meds I give him a small breakfast. He thinks the earlier he wakes me the sooner he gets to eat. I don't feed him until 6-6:30, hoping to make him realize, no way. But that is not working as yet....

  38. ok i dont think you should be doing that sorry...

  39. You know... Just a few nights ago, our were doing that around 3 in the morning, too, and I was beginning to wonder the same thing! Maybe, at least around here, the coyotes are singing at the moon during a full one?
