One of the ways I keep busy while enjoying the (simulated) life of an only dog, is by chewing on my Benebone chewy!
I had forgotten how tasty they are! Unfortunately, this is an "only under supervision" activity. This means I only get to enjoy this chewy while Mama is around to watch. I am still in search of an activity suitable for the "crate life"(you know, like the "thug life" but way cooler).
Looks like I may be enjoying this life through the howlidays....so I hope Mama and Daddy can find something.
Sunny Pupdate aka
If we could turn back time...
If someone ever asks me if they should get their pups luxating patellas corrected, we will tell them not to do it unless their dog is in obvious pain. Also, they might want to take the length of their pups legs in relation to their body into consideration.
Last Monday Sunny's kneecap(patella) went out again, barely a week out of her last surgery. We took her back to the Vet Monday afternoon and she was at a loss for words. This time there had been NO interaction with the pack, no exertion, and she has hardly been out of her crate(when she is, she is leashed). I believe her patella went out when she was squatting to go potty. The Vet now believes the first time the patella went out may not have been caused by the altercation with Rosy and we're wondering if her long legs may be the issue.
Needless to say, we are beyond frustrated. Sunny is going in tomorrow AGAIN for surgery to try and fix the issue. This will be the
last surgery. To tell you the truth, if she wasn't in such obvious
pain, we wouldn't put her through this again. The only positive is the Vet is determined to get her back to good and is NOT charging us for the surgery, only for the medication used.
We are just hoping this time they can repair it properly....
Please send POTP, Prayers and Pawsitive Thoughts
Sunny's way for both the surgery, and her recovery.

Oh no, poor Sunny, this is all very disappointing. Gail and I are sending a ton of POTP and have all fingers and paws crossed that the surgery works this time. Gail wonders if the vet understands why the previous operation seems not to have worked and if they will do anything differently this time?

Oh my sweet darling sunny I am so sorry that you have to go through this again and you have such beautiful legs and you look so adorable with your Nylabone. Yes we will pray for this surgery and pray that you don't have to go all the way through the holidays and that it does not happen again. I know you're feeling so bad being locked up in your crate and not being able to play with your siblings and play in your wonderful backyard
ReplyDeleteOh man, that's terrible for sweet Sunny, that poor gal and poor you, how stressful for you all. We all send purrs, prayers and POTP to you dear Sunny.
ReplyDeleteSunny, we all feel horrible for you. All our prayers and POTPs are with you. And we want to suggest a cow hoof for your unsupervised activity. They stink really good. If your Mama can't stand the smell, then ask her to get you a Kong toy that she can stuff with peanut butter or almond butter or coconut oil or ground meat or pumpkin or anything that will fit in it and then freeze it. Lots of Love, Chia, Lucy, Riley and Xena and Mom, but especially Chia
ReplyDeleteOh Sunny - 1we send you all kinds of purrayers and POTP.
ReplyDeleteWe are sending prayers to Sunny that this persistent issues can be resolved.
ReplyDeleteWow, I am so sorry to hear this. I truly hope this will be the last surgery and that she'll be back to as good as new before you know it.
ReplyDeleteThis is just terrible, poor Sunny! We have our paws crossed for the best outcome. We know two dogs with the patella thing and neither has had surgery. They go out now and then but it isn't a big deal. So sorry you and Sunny have to go through this.
