From Mama and Daddy: Thank you so very much for all your kind words during the past week. It meant so much to have such a loving community of friends surrounding us as Jakey made his journey across the Rainbow Bridge.
Now...we hand things off to Rosy!
Happy Nature Friday efurrybody! Today, we are going to take a look and see what Winter is looking like at the Albuquerque Botanical Gardens!
Hmmmph! Pretty boring Mama!
There are no leafs on the trees and no flowers anywhere!
OK, so maybe there are some cool seed pods....
...and pretty red berries.
Wow, looks like we even have some yellow berries. Mama thinks they may be soap berries.
WAIT....IS THAT A BUNNY IN THE YARD???
Ooops, sorry...false alarm. It was just a rock.
After enjoying the morning sun, Mama went into a big solarium and saw some native plants.
Here is some prickly pear cactus growing upward!
Mama found an Agave succulent stuck in a corner...
Mama calls this a Donkey's Tail Cactus but, after looking it up, this type of succulent is also called sedum. This is weird, because there is also a flower called sedum...oh well.
Check out these cool brown fuzzies!
Mama found them on the top of this Golden Barrel Cactus!
After she visited the Native Plants solarium, Mama took a walk over to look at some actual flowers. You'll have to stay tuned next week to see them though!
Thanks for joining us for Nature Friday this week, I am off to see what Sunny is up to.
In the meantime, we hope everyone gets to enjoy some nature this weekend!
Rosy, what a privilege, to come with you on a walk through the Albuquerque Botanical Gardens. The cacti are especially interesting - we don't see those in Soggy Scotland!

ReplyDeletethe gardens are gorgeous! we love trees without leaves almost as much as with leaves. so pretty against the sky. and you have such a BIG sky.... you are looking adorable today, of course you do that every day. I like to see cactus, and these are different than what I have seen with my own two eyes.. I am off to check out the sedum flower thing

ReplyDeleteVery clever to look for seeds for some colour in this season. Not so sure about the prickly things - don't you go getting too close to them Rosy. xxx Mr T
ReplyDeleteYou helped warm us up on this super cold day here, Rosy. There sure are lots of cool plants to see at the Botanical Garden. We can't wait to see the flowers next week.
ReplyDeleteDearest Nieces and Staff...all of you and all of your angels have been in our thoughts.
ReplyDeleteI love your new header...Rosy you piggy tails are adorable. You and Sunny look very sweet on the picnic table and OMDs CeCe is there too.
I thoroughly enjoyed today's Nature post in your beautiful new home state of N.M.
Hugs Aunty C
That was a really good tour sweetest Rosy, lots of pretty and interesting things to see! You and Sunny have a fun weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like signs of a rebirth to me.
ReplyDeleteCharlee: "Those funny seed pods look like fun to bat around! The cactus, not so much."
ReplyDeleteLulu: "Soap berries?! Beware of baths!"
It was nice to see all of those interesting plants. We have something called sedum, but it looks a lot different than the sedum you saw.
ReplyDeleteIt is always interesting to see the native plants of an area that are so different from what we have here. Those cacti and the succulents are very nice. Mom says she kills every cactus and succulent she has ever bought - she must be too heavy with the watering.
