Christmas Cactus Blooms on Nature Friday

Welcome to Nature Friday, where we get to meet new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. This week, we are going to take a look at our Christmas Cactus....

We can't believe how many blooms are actually blooming.

This is the first Christmas Cactus Mama has had in about 15 years, she recieved it as a Christmas present and hopes she can keep alive after it blooms BOL!

We all are hoping this Christmas Cactus blooms every year because we all know a happy Mama gives out more treats!

Do any of you have any tips for Mama to keep her Christmas Cactus healthy?

We hope you all get out and see some nature this weekend!

Travel Tuesday - 2024 River of Lights

A coupke of weeks ago, on Mama's Birthday, she and Daddy went out ALONE on a DATE!
First they went to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory(one of Mama's favorites).....

...and then, Daddy took Mama to see the River of Lights. Set up at the Botanic Gardens, along the Rio Grande River, the River of Lights has every kind of light display!
(You might remember the pawrents went there LAST YEAR too)

From Zebras.....

To butterflies, the lights were just spectacular!

All of the lights are so very colorful!

Mama put a video together. Watch until the end to see the cool model train footage!

(As always, feel free to visit our YouTube Channel HERE)

The pawrents got to see BIGFOOT....

...and DINOSAURS!!!

Mama says the creativity put into this light display every year is amazing. Last year they saw similar lights, but set up in a very different way!!

I bet you are surprised to hear the Model Trains were Mama and Daddy's favorite exhibit. lights, along with the different way the villages were decorated, were stunning!

Needless to say, Mama really enjoyed her birthday evening.
Don't worry, we made sure she got lots
of birthday snuggles from us when she got home.
Thanks for tagging along to the River of Lights this year. Mama is already looking forward to next year's display!

Aloha Nature Friday Flashback

Welcome to Nature Friday, where we get to meet new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. This week, we are turning the time machine back a few years. Mama has been wishing for tropical views and thought some of you(with the exception of some good friends from the great state of MN)  might be feeling the same way.  So for your viewing pleasure, today we are are traveling back to beautiful Maui and have....

Some tropical sunrises....

A Lotus flower from the rainforest

Some beautiful waterfalls....

Some colorful flowers AND a waterfall

But wait, that's not all!!

A beautiful black sand beach....

Mama says she is so happy she has pictures of the beautiful Lahaina Banyan Tree, because a few years later a lot of it, and Lahaina was lost to a horrible fire. Luckily, the tree and the town are showing signs of growing back!

Here is a cute little shore bird

...and finally, a beautiful view of the ocean!

OH...and for our friends up north,
Winter is definitely coming...and
I(Rosy) can't wait to see more snow!

We hope our tropical views warmed you up a little!

Are you going to get out and see some nature this weekend??

Thankful for a Night Out

Last Saturday we got to spend the night in R-C, and oh boy did we find lots of things to be thankful for! We had to stay in our own driveway because it is too cold to hook up RC's water systems, but we did have fun watching football, eating dinner and sleeping in RC!

There was plenty of room for our beds so we could relax after dinner. Sleeping was no problem, because Mama and Daddy can actually close the door to the bedroom in RC. This way they don't have to worry about me(Sunny) and Rosy getting into trouble together(Rosy sleeps in the bedroom).

Even though we weren't thankful that the Longhorns lost their football game, we are thankful we got to watch it in the comfort of R-C!!

With the cooler weather, the Northern Flickers are returning to the area, these birdies are members of the Woodpecker family and one of Mama's favorite birds, mostly because ants are one of their favorite foods....and Mama does NOT like ants!

Here is some Fun Flicker Footage:

Decorated Skies on Nature Friday

Welcome to Nature Friday, where we get to meet new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. This time of year we know the humans like to decorate the house and yard with all kinds of pretty lights....but here in the High Desert of NM, Mother Nature sure has been decorating her sunrises!

The blues...

The oranges...

The layers of purpley-pinks

...and the orangey pinks too!

It seems like every day the sky is a different color!!

We think Mama may need to spend more time out enjoying Mother Nature's decorations and less time decorating me and Rosy!!

In Memorium...
We dedicate this, and all future Nature Fridays, to the Memory of GailGail never knew this, but Mama almost quit doing Nature Fridays. It was the weekly praise of Gail (along with, first Bertie and then, Nobby) noting that it was one of her favorite blog hops that kept Mama "keeping on" with the hop. For that, we will be forever grateful.
