Friday Nature Walk in Red River

Welcome to Nature Friday, where we get to meet new friends and share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. Today, on my last day of being 7, I wanted to tell you about the second "pawrents and me" hike we did while we were in Red River.

Red River Nature Trail looked like the perfect place to take a little hike.

Remember when we told you about how there was skiing here in the Winter time?  Well, they use these ski lift thingies to take skiers up the mountain in the Winter and, in the Summer, they take people for rides up the mountain. How cool is that?

The Red River (that isn't really red) ran next to the trail.

We saw a lots of pretty little flowers hidden in the grass as we hiked.

Soba flowers

Wild strawberry blooms

Mama thinks these are some kind of blue bells...I don't know, they look kind of purple to me.

It was nice hearing the river rushing by as we hiked.

After a mile or so, the trail started getting a little treacherous for the pawrents. They must have gotten a bunch of rain, because a lot of the tree roots were exposed....

....and a lot of the trail was washed out. I could have kept going, but the pawrents made the "executive decision" to turn around. Something about them falling or some such nonsense.

We did have a nice walk back to the car, with gorgeous views of the (not red) Red River.

Mama even saw a little Rosy Rose for me!

All in all it was a wonderful hike, even if it did end sooner than I liked.

I sure hope you get out for a little hike this weekend!!

Only 1 more sleep until my Birthday....maybe it will come sooner if I sleep all day???

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

Rosy, ask mama to look up "Mertensia" for the bluebells and see if she thinks it matches. What a wonderfurs walkies you had and I'm sorry it was curtailed... one of the drawbacks for the pawrents is the two-wheel drive. Nowhere are as stable as your 4x4 capabilities!
