Breaking News - FOUND DADDY

So...just like yesterday, Mama and me went for our morning walkies. This time I let Mama bring Found Puppy. We were going to walk the same way we did yesterday and see if we could find anyone who might know Found Puppy. When we got to almost the same exact spot we found him yesterday we saw a SIGN!! It described Found Puppy exactly so Mama called the number and then guess what??? Found Puppy found his LOST DADDY!!! He came right away to get Frankie (Found Puppy's real name) and it was such a happy reunion!! Frankie has 2 hooman sisters that were so very sad that he was gone last night. We don't know why their Daddy didn't even LOOK on the pooter cause Mama had Found Puppy's Picture on all of the animal shelter sites PLUS Craig's List.

When Frankie's Dad came to get him Mama recommended, very nicely, that if he would have been chipped or had a collar and tags that she could have gotten Frankie back to the family much sooner. She doesn't think he was going to do it cause he kept talking about how Frankie and his brother got out all the time but always came home....Mama is very happy that she reunited the happy family, but she is also a little leaky 'cause she will miss having another "little one" around the house....sheesh Mama..he sniffed me like ALL THE TIME...that would take some getting used to!!!

Thanks to everypuppy and human who helped in the search by putting it on your facebook, twitter and posting about it. Mama is going to head over and post the good news on Craigs List and the Shelter sites she visited. We hope that Frankie's Daddy listened to Mama and gets Frankie chipped PLUS get him a collar with contact taggies that STAYS ON.

As for me and Bilbo getting chipped....Mama is taking us this afternoon. I suggest that everyone tell their hoomans to do it soon if you are not chipped already!! At our vet it only cost 60 green papers for each of us and 60 dollars is SO WORTH IT. I don't know what I would ever do if I lost my Mama and my Daddy and they couldn't find me or I couldn't find them. Also, as a few of my commenters mentioned DON'T FORGET TO KEEP YOUR CHIP INFO CURRENT!!

As for the "little one" thing that Mama is pining for...We are going to be keeping our eyes on the animal shelters for a doggie our size, and Mama is going to start looking in earnest on Petfinder....

Thanks again for all your help!!!

  2. Hey Dory! Don't you want to get a full sized doggie to protect you from squirells? Just a thought.

It sounds like Found Puppy's dad needs to figure out how to keep him from running away. But at least you know where he lives now.

Good luck with the chip stuff.

  3. That is a very happy ending for Frankie, thanks to your mother. Next time he might not be so lucky, we agree he should be chipped straight away.

  5. Oh Dory, I am so glad Lost Puppy found his way home. Even though his peeps are remiss about keeping him safe and tagged, I know they must have been sad while he was lost. You are soooo right about tags and chipping. SHE even thought about having me tattoo'd. I'd like a crown and a dagger, but she says my akc num would be fine. SHE says all doggies (er, I think she meant terrible terriers) that are prey oriented and BOLT when they see squirrley whirrlies, need to be tagged, bagged, leashed and locked at all times. You'd think she gets annoyed or something when I go for a friendly neighborhood streak!

Good job, Dory and the Dory Momma!

  7. Hi, Dory...

I'm sooo glad your Momma found Found Puppy's Lost Daddy...I just hope they don't let him get out anymore & they take your Momma's advice about getting him chipped...

So many awful things could happen to a Lost Puppy...

Anyway...Mom says she is gonna look into chipping me, too...I'm not too happy about that, but if it will keep my Mom from getting Lost, I guess it's OK...

I'm soooo glad you & your Momma were there yesterday to help Found Puppy find his Daddy...

  8. Wonderful news - we hope he at least gets a collar with tags - our Mom would have probably had one made up with her phone number on it before she returned him! BOL!!!

  9. Glad that Lost Puppy was reunited with his home (even if it sounds like his owner needs a little 'edjumacation' on dogs...) Although Mango has a good point - at least now you know where he lives!

Mom had us both chipped when we got our 12 week shots, figuring that we travel so much that rather than waiting to be anesthetized (when we are spayed - which is what our vet frequently does... don't ask me why - the chip was just a little pinch and then a bunch of Pupperoni!) we'd get it done early. We've also both got about a zillion tags on different rings in case some fall off. (So you can hear me coming from like a mile away...)

Good luck on the new 'little one'! Hopefully you will be fully involved in the selection process!

  13. Dory and Mom we are so glad to hear you found Frankie's owners and we do hope they will think very hard about what you said. Frankie was lucky this time. About a year ago we had the same thing happen in our neighborhood with an Whippet. Those of us who found and reunited the family strong suggest id, chip etc. They said oh it was just an accident we were unloading the car after vacation he just slipped out. Dang it it was dark that poor scared puppy ran too blocks in the wrong direction toward a busy street. He happened to stop at the first house with lights on and luckily it was an animal lover.
Mom said gently well it only takes one time for them to get hurt. Fell on deaf ears. Arggg Makes her mad thinking about it again.

  15. I have a feeling that Found Frankie... Not Frankie Furter... will never be chipped. How sad. Sort of like neighbor Jacob.. he was running loose this morning again.
Well, at least you two will be safe... like Me. You should give your mom and dad some extra loving tonight for doing that for you!!!

  16. Pawsome ... Glad he got home alright!

  17. YIPPEE!! I'm so glad Lost Puppy...er, Frankie...found his daddy. But my mom kinda growled when she heard the part about Frankie getting out "all the time." I means, a tag and a collar hardly costs any green papers at all! Sheesh! Peoples are crazy. But I'm glad his daddy was at least looking for him anyway.

And it's very much exciting that you might get a new brudder or sister! I would highly suggest a doggie with most beautiful brindle furs.

I am so happy that you and your mom were able to find Frankies daddy. I hope he gets tags for him. I have tags.

One time I was really hairy and was going to get groomed the next day. Mom thought she would take my collar off for the night cuz it was tight around my neck and I liked it when it was off. Well, somebody opened my gate so when Mom let me out, I was so outta here!! I was gone all night and was found the next morning and Mom could have shot herself for taking my collar off, and it hasnt happened again.

  23. We are very happy to hear that Frankie found his family! Those microchips are lifesavers, and Mom says she's thinking hard about that for us, too!

If you had a bigger dog, you'd have somebody to help you with your hunting! Did I mention my sister is looking for a home now?

  29. Oh, that is a wonderful happy ending! Although I think it is very sad that Frankie's owner still isn't being sensible and responsible after this episode and getting him micro-chipped...some humans just can't be helped!! We see lots of dogs running around loose here in Brisbane too - without collars or anything - and we're always horrified. Their owners just let them roam around and think it's an easy, cheap way to exercise them but it is so dangerous and so irresponsible!! Grrr!!

My humans had me mirco-chipped when I was a puppy and I always wear a collar with an ID Tag...still, I guess it wouldn't be hard to spot me if I was wandering about! :-)

  33. Yep, I'm chipped - don't you worry! Mom is going to buy me some more tags though - when you have wardrobe changes as frequently as I do, it's hard to keep up with the tags! No excuse though!!

Hooray for finding the daddy! A happy ending for Frankie. And what's this about another doggie? My mom has been talking about the same thing, hmmm......

  34. Hooray for Frankie! I hope his dad listens to your mom. I always always have my collar and tags on, but I haven't been chipped. We'll look into that!

  35. We are glad Found Puppy has gone home but sad that his dad doesn't seem to have a clue that it's not good that his dogs "keep getting out". We have people like that around here and we are worried that their dogs will end up getting hit by a car or becoming coyote food!

  36. Happy happy news...we wish Found Puppy well...
We need to be chipped too...did it hurt?

  37. Lets hope that Frankies Daddy listens to your Mama as she is a very smart lady. My mom had me chipped right after my second vaccs and she is going to see about getting Molly chipped too.
I have to confess I keep sniffing at Molly far too much my mom keeps telling me to leave her behind alone but it is so tempting. It's not my fault it's a boy thing .
