Would anyone like a glass of Rose for today's fluttery Nature Friday??
Alcohol free, of course! BOL!
Lately, Mama has been making weekly morning walking trips to the
Botanic Garden. There are soooooo many flowers, plus it gets Mama out of the house so we can nap in peace!
Anyways, at the beginning of June, the flutterby house opened! It's not real full yet, but Mama did see some fun little flutterbies! Above are baby Monarch Butterflies. Aren't they adorable little caterpillars??
Here is one all grown up!!
Mama never gets tired of the orange, black and white wings...
...and no two ever look the same!
There were quite a few moths in the butterfly house this visit.
Mama found this one sitting on a wilty yellow flower. It kinda looks like it has eyes on his wings, don't you think??
Here is an interesting little guy....
See the little circle of fibers underneath his chin...I wonder what it does with that, collect more pollen maybe?
Mama also made a video that has some Monarch's and a few other flutterbies!

What a fun flutterby post, and those are the coolest caterpillars ever. Almost as cool as a glass of well-chilled rosé with Rosy.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun place to visit often and the butterflies are so beautiful! We do rake our leaves in the Autumn but we drag them to our very small woods and let them stay there.

ReplyDeleteI wish I lived close enough to walk to this delightful madsnapper paradise! love the video, and the butterflies and oh wow on the catepillar 3 musketeers. that is amazing. wish I were there. i could walk for 2 hours and not run into anything but houses.
ReplyDeleteMornin' Rosy. Hey, that first moth looks like the bulldog of moths. Seriously! Take another look at it's head and body. I heard that butterflies paint eyes on their wings so that birds attack their wings instead of their bodies. *shudder* We have some big hawks around here that worry Mommy.

ReplyDeleteOH MY DOGS your mama is one fantastic photographer. I have never EVER seen a butterfly's chin until today and now I too wonder what that circle of fiber is on his chinny chin chin.

What a great place for your mom to visit. We loved seeing the video too. That curly thing is like a big straw that uncoils and they use it to drink the nectar from the flowers.

ReplyDeleteWe always have some milkweed growing somewhere in our yard in order to attract the monarchs. We haven't seen any yet, but we did see a beautiful tiger swallowtail earlier this week.
