Hi Efurrybody!!
So I confronted the Mama about those "companion dogs" she took pictures of and how come they could go to the Mickey Mouse Park and I couldn't. She so surprised me and did NOT take my t-shirt away! Instead she sat me down and said that we should look through the innernets and see why companion dogs are sooooo special! This is what we found out (you can clickie where it is bold and EYE TALI SIZED to see where we found out things)!
First of all there is the companion type dog breed. The Mama says that Lhasa's are definitely a companion breed along with doggies like Lexi and Bentley, Brutus, Riley and Star and most of the other doggies we know. Our main job is to keep our humans company and to protect them. OK, so mostly the only thing I protect them from is my brother on his bad days...but you never know!! Unfortunately , these kind of companion dogs are not the ones that can go to Mousey Land...
There is a special kind of dog, I think it they are the ones with the BIGGEST hearts (they must be pretty big hearts cause me and all my friends have some BIG hearts!), anyway these are Service Dogs, Facility Dogs, Skilled Companions and Hearing Dogs. They all have special skills that are used to help, assist or help make their humans more happy! THESE are the kind of dogs they let in the Mousey Land Parks. Just click on the type of doggie to read more about them. Mama knows there are probably lots more types of companion doggies. Do you all know anypuppy that is a Companion Dog?
Today we also want to point you over to a couple other friends of ours. Scout and Freyja over at Loving for a Living have a FANTASTIC post about National Dog Week. If you haven't stopped by already, take a minute to go over and read it. You won't be sorry!!The Rocky Creek Scotties (and Java) are hosting a bake sale to help raise money to help with the cost Woodrow's medicine. Stop over and browse the nummies and make sure to send prayers and paw power Woodrow's way. Mama is going over to buy 20 greenpapers worth of cyber nummys in Tank and Sierra Rose's name for their paw it forward gifts!!
We hope everyone has a pawesome VPKC Friday!!!
WOW. Dave is mom's Guide Dog for the Color Blind. I wonder if they'd let HIM in there? Maybe only if she has to match colors on something. Hmmm.
ReplyDeletePlay bows,
Zim
Dory! Thanks for the great post. There is a lot going on out there. Really nice of your mom to buy the greenpapers in Tank and my names!!
ReplyDeleteNational Dog Week...will have to check that out next...
Bye for now...
Hugs and snaggle-tooth kisses,
Sierra Rose and her mom
Dory, Mommy is a little behind but we are so glad that Daddy came home safe and sound. I am also very glad that you cleared up that doggy thing at Mickeys house. It does kind of make sense I guess. You have lots of great information on your blog. We are going to visit Scout and then the Scotties. We also were picked for a paw it forward at Tanks party so that would be a good way to do it. Thanks for telling us.
ReplyDeletelove, licks and sniffs, Sasha
p.s. I hope you don't mind I am going to put your vampire picture on our blog and mention you of course. Growl to Bilbo
Hi Dory,
ReplyDeleteI got a sore paw from clicking on all those links! I am friends with a couple of little doggies that go to nursing homes and visit. I would like to do that but my Mom said I would be knocking people over like bowling pins!
Well back to more clicking! Have a great weekend.
Luv, Lucy (Woof!)
Dory, thanks for asking your Mom about the companion dogs and service dogs. We don't know any service dogs but Mommy and Daddy have seen lots of them and they are great pups.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Teddy Bear
Great post, Dory! It was very smart to ask your Momma why other dogs could go to Disney and you couldn't.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post Dory! There are a lot of people that don't now about service dogs and get upset when I am in places where most dogs can't go. I don't mind because I know I am doing my job, but it upsets my mom sometimes.
ReplyDeleteMom says she is gonna go look at the yummies because she says moms can never have too many yummies too!
Hugs and tail wags,
Dixie
Hi Dory, that was a great post. Do you know Clive - he is an assistance dog and has a wonderful blog? You should go meet him and his wonderful "not-so-little" man.

Great post, Dory! You found a lot of things that are interesting to all of us. I am not a certified hearing dog, but I do help my Mom (who is profoundly deaf), by telling her when someone is at the door, or when the TTY phone rings, and I make noise when the tea kettle is yelling. So those are mostly just things dogs do, and my Mom appreciates it a lot!
ReplyDeleteKisses,
Stella
Hi Dory! Great post, thanks for sharing with us! Have a luvly weekend!!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Maxx
Hi Dory,
ReplyDeleteDon't feel bad. I wouldn't be allowed in Disney World either cause I'm a Rat Terrier and as far as I can tell, that Mickey Mouse is just a big r-a-t, so I would chase is behind all over that park!

Where my mom works, there a group of therapeutic dogs coming to the hospital to see patients. They sure bring happiness to everybody, we call them happy tails in the hospital!
