Hitting the Road
by Rosy
CeCe is clean, Daddy's checked the engine and the tires,
"What's going on?" our friends may inquire
Well, Mama's packing everything in our abode,
All signs point to us hitting the road!

We're headed someplace where the Canyon's are Grand,
We've been promised long walks through open land!
We'll also see trains and they'll be lots of pics,
Because we'll also be traveling on Route 66!

We'll report back in September, all we have seen
Along with pictures of all the cool places we've been.
Farewell and ado, Au revoir and so long,
We'll see you September 10th,
until then we'll be gone.

We are heading out a week long CeCe adventure around the Southwest. We are looking forward to some fun in the sun and some much needed rest and relaxation for the pawrents.

We'll be out of the office, with the exception of Nature Friday next week, until Tuesday, September 10th.

We hope you all have a pawsome Labor Day Weekend.
Don't forget to go out to see some nature!

Show us your nature! It can be flowers, your current weather, a scene out of your window, or maybe a picture from a vacation, walk or other journey! Any kind of nature picture will do! If you don't see a link below, click HERE  to go to our Hoppity Page.

Once Upon A Time on Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day

Once upon a time, there were four very special dogs. They lived and loved their best lives with pawrents who loved and cared for them the best they knew how. As we know all too well, pets never stay with us long enough. These pups did their best to make sure their humans learned very special life lessons during their earthly stays.

Today, these four pups are going to share what they taught their humans during their all too short lives.

Hi, I am Jakey, and I got to spend 14 of my 17 years with my human pawrents.  I taught my pawrents that dogs are patient, kind and loving no matter what they may have gone through before coming to them.
I also taught them that some pups like to tear all their toys(and their siblings toys) to shreds. The favorite thing I hope they learned from me, especially to my Daddy, was that Jakey kisses can soothe even the baddest of days.

Hi, I'm Arty and I hope I taught my pawrents to always take your dog with you. I was my Mama's most reliable travel companion. She knew I would always have a good time, no matter where we went. I also taught my pawrents to never be afraid...of anything!  Most importantly my Mama learned there are different kinds of heart dogs, and I was lucky to be one of hers. Unfortunately, I had to leave them unexpectedly, teaching them to always live each day to the fullest with your furry friends because you never know when the Rainbow Bridge will be calling.

I'm Bilbo and I taught my pawrents well....EVERYTHING.  I was their first pup and I taught them everything from how loving a puppy can be,  to how some dogs are very special and need lots of special attention(Mama says I was preparing them for Sunny BOL). They learned to always have a routine for your pet! I always made sure they were on time with all aspects of my routine AND their routine too! From dinner to treat time and even making sure everybody went to bed on time! They were very lucky to have a pup like me for their very first dog!

Hi, I'm Dory...the original author of this blog. I taught my pawrents the unconditional love a dog can give. I was Mama's bestest friend and Daddy's best girl. Arty may say he's Mama's favorite travel buddy, but I was her first travel buddy.  Where ever I went, I never met a stranger! I introduced Mama to the blog world and am one of the main reasons she has met so many great friends through the years. I could go on and on about all the things I taught the pawrents, but the most important thing I taught them is what it means to have a "pure heart dog".

Do you think the pawrents know how much they were loved Dory??
Oh yes Arty and I can tell by the tears Mama still leaks how much she and Daddy loved us too.
All of us, along with the pawrents, are so lucky to have found each other.

ABOUT RAINBOW BRIDGE REMEMBRANCE DAY:
Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day was founded in 2015 by Deborah Barnes, award-winning author and blogger of Zee & Zoey’s Cat Chronicles, in tribute to her Ragdoll cat, Mr. Jazz, whom she had to say goodbyes to on August 28, 2013. She shared the journey of letting him go in her critically acclaimed book, Purr Prints of – A Cat’s Tale of Life, Death, and Beyond, and decided to create the day in his honor as a way for others across the world to share memories of their pets they had loved and lost.

Wildlife Wednesday on Tuesday

Since Mama wants to do a special post for our angels tomorrow on Rainbow Remembrance Day, I decided we would have Wildlife Wednesday on Tuesday.  Mostly this is so I could clear my name regarding our missing frogs!

Not only did I not eat any frogs, I haven't been able to even chase those silly hoppers this Summer. For some reason, Mama is happy about this. I think it really takes a lot of the fun out of my evening backyard potty walks!

Here are some of the reasons the froggies may have disappeared.....
(As always, feel free to visit our YouTube Channel HERE.)

Who do you think is most responsible for the frogacide? We are pretty sure that Rocky the Raccoon is the main culprit. He has stopped by a bunch and checked out all the nooks and crannies of the fountain.

And to you all that thought I was eating those froggies??
Shame on you!
(TeeHeeHee...of course, I might have given one a nibble if I had the chance.)

Nature Friday at the Rio Chama RV Park

Welcome to Nature Friday, where we get to meet new friends and maybe share a picture or two of what nature looks like around Blogville. This week we are going to take a look at some of the beautiful sites we saw around Rio Chama RV Park.

Of course, besides the train and the chippies, the nicest part of the park was the Rio Chama River.

It was so close to us that we could hear it as it babbled by!

We also really enjoyed the fauna we saw along the river bank, like these pretty yellow flowers....

...and these cool berries!

The rain also filled the river up!

We went on lots of walks around the park too!

There were lots of cool smells...

and some very blue skies

...and this cool Woodpecker(or Flicker)!

Mama put together a short Nature Friday Video
As always, feel free to visit our YouTube Channel HERE.

We had such a marvelous time in Chama and the Rio Chama RV Park. With so much to see and do, we can't wait to go back!

We hope you all get out to see some Nature this weekend!

Thankful for Pretty Drives Thursday

Today, we are thankful for the pretty drives we get to take. The drive to Chama was especially pretty because of all the wonderful rock formations.

They kinda look like someone layered different rock "batters" to make a "rock cake"

This one looks like it has frosting on top!

We even passed a ghost ranch....hmmmm, wonder if that is a Ghost Mountain?!

There seemed to be a pretty mountain around every turn!

Keeping in theme for the week, Mama made a video of all the rocks we saw....

As always, feel free to visit our YouTube Channel HERE.

Although I may not always be fond of the drive, I'm always thankful when there is pretty scenery to see out the window.

Campsite Wildlife Wednesday

Although we didn't see any frogs here in Chama either, we are holding you in suspense for another week before we show you why we think our frogs in the backyard are disappearing.
We will give you a hint though...

Sunny didn't eat them
(not for lack of trying).

This week, we are continuing our Chama tails and have a special guest on Wildlife Wednesday.....

As always, feel free to visit our YouTube Channel HERE.

You are so lucky I was attached to Mama, Chippy and that she
had the GOOD treats in her pocket!!

Travel Tuesday - Chama, NM

When your Daddy needs to relax, and your Mama needs a break from the hot temperatures, a getaway to the mountains of Northern New Mexico in order!

For this getaway we headed to the little town of Chama, New Mexico and the Rio Chama RV Park. We were happy to be greeted by temperatures in the 70s instead of the 90s with only a few rain showers.

Nestled in the San Juan mountains, just South of the Colorado border, Chama has been a mining town, a logging town and most importantly a railroad town!

It is now home to the Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad.

Originally the San Juan extension of the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad, the train running the railroad now carries tourists to see beautiful mountain views and the lovely scenery of the Cumbres Pass.

How fun is that! This trip we just watched the train go by, but the pawrents are hoping to hop on the train during our next visit.

Chama is a quaint little town, popular with campers escaping the desert heat during the warmer months.

Our favorite part of this trip, was the train that came through right behind our camp site twice a day. That and the beautiful Chama River rushing by underneath the bridge were big trip bonuses.

Mama put together a fun video of our time in Chama, NM

As always, feel free to visit our YouTube Channel HERE.

Between the trains, the cooler weather and the serene camp ground, this might have been one of our favorite trips this Summer.

Chama is another place we will try and get back to visit real soon!!
